How to clean carbon deposit in diesel engine
    Release time:2025-01-31 glance over:207 views

During the long-term operation of diesel engine, due to incomplete fuel combustion, evaporation residue of lubricating oil, impurity mixing in intake air and other reasons, carbon deposits are easily formed in the combustion chamber, intake port, fuel nozzle, piston top, valve and other parts. Excessive carbon deposition will lead to engine knock, difficult start-up, decreased power and increased fuel consumption, etc. Regular cleaning of carbon deposition will help to keep the engine running stably.

Cleaning methods of diesel engine carbon deposit can be divided into two types: disassembly-free cleaning and disassembly cleaning. Disassembly-free cleaning is suitable for the case of light carbon deposition, with short operation period and no damage to the structure. Common methods include adding cleaning agent for carbon deposition, injecting it through oil path or air inlet, making it enter the combustion chamber with fuel, softening and removing carbon deposition during operation. The other way is to use engine disassembly-free cleaning equipment, spray cleaning liquid through atomization, and gradually dissolve the carbon layer on the surface of the intake system and combustion chamber.

When the carbon deposit is heavy or a hard coking layer is formed, it needs to be dismantled and cleaned. It mainly involves the disassembly of fuel injector, intake manifold, valve and other parts, and the removal of deposited carbon blocks by ultrasonic cleaning, chemical soaking or manual brushing. When the carbon deposition in the combustion chamber is serious, technologies such as scraping the top of the piston and mirror treatment of the cylinder can be used to ensure the surface smoothness.

In order to reduce the frequency of carbon deposition, it is suggested to choose low ash diesel with stable quality, and change the engine oil and mechanical filter regularly to ensure a good seal of the fuel system. The air intake system should regularly check the air filter to prevent impurities from entering. Long-term low-load operation of the engine is also prone to carbon deposition, and reasonable maintenance of engine working temperature and load level is helpful to self-cleaning of carbon deposition.

The cleaning carbon deposition cycle varies according to different working conditions, and it is recommended to check it every 10,000 to 15,000 kilometers under urban working conditions; High-intensity operation scenarios can shorten the cycle appropriately. When cleaning, special equipment and compliant chemicals should be selected to avoid damage to seals and fuel injection systems.

Carbon deposition treatment is one of the preventive maintenance links. Reasonable cleaning method and periodic arrangement can effectively prolong the service life of the engine and ensure the operating efficiency of the equipment.
